The Experience

We carefully developed our program over the past 30 years, matching, training, and delivering hundreds of dogs. We began our company out of a deep desire to help people fully enjoy their lives with their dogs, which continues to be our true purpose. We believe the experience of receiving a dog from Rolling Meadows is important. We strive to be empathetic and communicative,
providing our clients the best possible experience.

  1. Contact us

To start the adoption process, please fill out our adoption inquiry form or email us at rollingmeadowsdogs@gmail.com.

Barbara will then have a detailed phone conversation with you to discuss your preferences, lifestyle, and home environment to help match the right dog.

We will exchange 2-3 personal references to ensure a good fit, and give you confidence in our ability to deliver a fully trained dog.

2. Matching

Rolling Meadow's specialty is matchmaking, setting us apart from other training programs. Our primary focus is matching the dog's temperament and needs to the person, ensuring a happy and harmonious match. With 30 years of experience, Barbara has nearly perfected this!

Depending on each situation, finding the perfect dog for you can take weeks to a few months. If this dog is already in our program, the wait will be shorter. No matter what, the wait is worth it!

We rescue dogs through online listings with rehoming fees, which gives us valuable information about the dog's past experiences and health records. When we find the best dog for you, we'll send you photos and explain why we believe this specific dog is a good match for you.
We welcome clients to visit our facility and meet the dog in person, but most choose not to.

3. Training

1. Evaluate
We carefully evaluate dogs to find candidates that are the best fit for our program. Many dogs fail out because they will be unsuccessful in our rigorous training program. Once a dog passes our evaluation criteria, we begin forming an idea of the home and person the dog will best fit, aiding us in matchmaking.

2. Socialization
Our dogs are exposed to various home environments through fosters to ensure they are well-behaved. They learn house manners and have diverse socialization experiences with children, adults, and different animals. This includes regular play sessions with other program dogs and evaluations around prey animals such as cats and ferrets.

3. Obedience
Our obedience training program goes beyond just teaching tricks. It's about building a strong bond with your dog and providing mental stimulation. We train dogs to respond to at least 18 commands in various high-distraction environments, tailoring the training to your specific lifestyle and home environment.

4. Delivery

We have developed our unique delivery process over the past 30 years, delivering nearly 600 dogs. Our delivery process is a comprehensive experience that takes 3-4 days. It helps your dog settle into its new home and equips you with the skills to communicate effectively with your new companion.

Once contacting us, Barbara will give you a more comprehensive explanation of the delivery process.

Barbara will introduce the dog to your household family and any pets, establish a potty area, conduct obedience training sessions over 3-4 days, teach you how to walk the dog, guide you through an outing (more intensive with therapy and service dogs), and acompany you for an introductory, non-invasive vet visit.

5. Support

Once we deliver your dog, our communication does not end there! Dogs cannot immediately adjust to their new family, so we insist on a bonding period of 30 to 90 days. Barbara provides regular check-ins and guidance through texts and scheduled video calls to ensure a smooth transition for you and your dog. Our goal is to ensure that both our dogs and clients have the best possible experience!

Additionally, Barbara addresses unexpected training concerns even years after delivery.
