With no exception, getting Maverick was the best thing we ever did.

We first contacted Barbara, looking for a non-shedding hypo-allergenic dog with the highest level of training possible. When she told us about Maverick, we trusted her and said yes. It turns out getting Maverick has been the best decision we ever made. Maverick fit into our lives seamlessly, almost immediately becoming a part of our family.

After a year of having Maverick and fully bonding, we became a certified therapy dog team with National Capital Therapy Dogs. We have made numerous visits to Georgetown Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Maverick visits with doctors, nurses, and children while we are there.

One of my favorite things is seeing Maverick's excitement when he sees his therapy dog vest. He knows he's going on a car ride and going to “work”. When people see Maverick at the hospital, they walk in, smile, and light up with joy while petting him.

My best advice for anyone considering getting a dog from Rolling Meadows is to tell Barbara everything you want and need with full transparency and trust in her expertise. Try to keep the breed and size of the dog far down the list of wants because Barbara knows best. If she chooses the dog that she thinks fits your needs and personality, it will be the best dog for you.
